GFA/StarTimes Gala: Hearts/Kotoko Knocked Out, Olympics/Dreams Progress

Former Champions Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko have been knocked out of the ongoing GFA StarTimes Gala competition being staged at the Nduom Stadium in Elmina on Saturday.

Four times winners Hearts of Oak suffered 6-5 defeat to city rivals Great Olympics on penalties after their game ended  goalless  at fulltime.

Asante Kotoko were suffered a 1-0 defeat to Elmina Sharks, whose home grounds is being used for the competition.

In the first opening game of the competition, Ghana Premier League new entrants Eleven Wonders beat New Edubiase 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw at fulltime.

The all topflight clash between Inter Allies and Dwarfs also ended 1-1 at full time with Inter Allies edging past Dwarfs 5-4 during the shoot outs.

Medeama recorded the biggest win of the day with a 3-0 win over Berekum Chelsea whiles Wa All Stars pipped second tier side Vision by a lone goal.

In the last fixture of the opening day, Dreams FC defeated Zone 2 based Division One sides FC Samartex 2-0 after Bechem United recorded a similar win over NEA Salamina in an earlier match.

Below are the fixtures for the next stage of the competition which will be played on Sunday.

1. Eleven Wonders v Inter Allies (10:00am)

2. Elmina Sharks v Medeama SC (11:00am)

3. Wa All Stars v Great Olympics (12:00pm)

4. Bechem United v Dreams FC (1:00pm)
