Raphael Dwamena Suffers Another Setback With Heart Condition

on

Danish club Vejle Boldklub have placed Raphael Dwamena on medical supervision after the Ghanaian suffered a setback in his heart condition.

Dwamena had a successful heart surgery in January where an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) was implanted to monitor his heart rate.

Knowing the risks involved, the medical team of Vejle Boldklub consistently monitored the 25-year-old on training grounds and matchdays.

Unfortunately, the club recorded a single case of Dwamena’s heart limit values being too high and as a result, the former FC Zurich striker has to be taken off the pitch.

Technical manager at the Danish club, Jacob Krüger, explained the decision.

“That there has now been one case where the limit values have been too high, we must based on a health professional assessment as a club, take the consequence of. Raphael is therefore taken off the field. We are, of course, sorry on Raphael’s behalf, but the parties have been aware from the outset of the consequence that would have been the case if Raphael’s monitoring had exceeded the limit values in the measurement.”

Krüger, then added: “Raphael Dwamena has in her short time in Vejle Boldklub shown a great human format, a professional approach to his profession and a desire to learn from her towards our young players. We will now help Raphael in the new situation.”

Dwamena expressed his gratitude to Vejle Boldklub for giving him a chance to realize his dreams of playing football once again.

“I am truly grateful for the opportunity that Vejle Boldklub gave me to play football again. Now I have been taken off the field and I am under medical supervision.”

“Despite not being able to be on the pitch, I still want to help the club achieve its goals. Therefore, I would also like to say to both my teammates, the staff, and the fans that I am proud to be part of the Vejle Boldklub family,” he added.

Dwamena played five games for Vejle Boldklub in the Danish Superliga this season, scoring two goals.
