Match Report: Asante Kotoko Beaten 0-1 At Home By New Edubiase

New Edubiase United put up a good performance on Saturday night to beat Asante Kotoko by a lone goal in the match week 9 fixture of the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League game played at the Baba Yara stadium.

This was a match most pundits had tipped Kotoko to win judging from their build up to the game having won three games on the trot under caretaker coach Michael Osei.

Edubiase lost their last game at home to Ashantigold, whilst Kotoko beat Dreams FC in midweek.

As expected the game commenced on an exciting pace as the home side were having the better share of possesion, an action that saw them win three corner kicks within the first 8 minutes.

Edubiase who looked very calm and composed throughout the game took up the challenge and had their own number of chances but in most cases, goalkeeper Ernest Sowah and his defenders were equal to the task.

However in the 20th  minute, they will get a reward for their efforts. Prince Antwi capitalized on a defensive blunder by Kotoko defender Ahmed Adams raced into the box and coolly put the ball past the onrushing Kotoko goalkeeper Ernest Sowah.

Kotoko propped the half and goal area of New Edubiase in search for the match needed equalizer as their fans were on their necks shouting.

But the defence of New Edubiase stood firm to ensure that they picked all the maximum points in the game.

0-1 was how it all ended and with Asante Kotoko’s three-match unbeaten run coming to an end.

This is the first match Kotoko has lost since assistant coach Michael Osei was made interim head coach after coach Duncan was asked to step aside.

Edubiase will next play Berekum Chelsea at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium.

Asante Kotoko, on the other hand, will engage bitterest rivals, Hearts of Oak at the Accra sports stadium.
