Defending MTN FA Cup champions, Hearts of Oak are in pole position to defend their trophy, after they came from behind to beat Dreams FC 3-2 at the Accra sports stadium this afternoon.
The Phobians were given a rude awakening in the opening minutes of the game when Dreams FC against the run of play, stunned the home crowd with the opener through Sylvester Simba in the 4th minute.
It was a swift response from the Phobians who grabbed the equaliser six minutes later through Benjamin Yorke to end the first half 1-1 though they dominated proceedings.
Back from recess, Hearts of Oak made their intentions clear with a 46th minute goal through Daniel Afriyie Barnie putting them ahead ahead for the first time in the game.
Dreams FC were reduced to 10 men in the 57th minute after referee Rustum Gameli issued a red card to Issah Ibrahim for a wicked tackle on Hearts of Oak captain Mohammed Alhassan.
The numerical advantage gave the Phobians some advantage over their opponents as Suraj Seidu soon gave them a two goal cushion with the team’s 3rd goal in the 64th minute.
Dreams FC fought hard to get a goal back in the dying embers of the game through Kweku Karikari and were dominating the exchanges, but the Hearts of Oak defence did enough to hold them off till the final whistle.
The result means that Hearts of Oak have qualified to their second successive FA Cup final which will be played at the Kumasi Baba Yara Stadium on the 26th of June 2022.
They will either play Aduana Stars or Bechem United in the final.
