Daniel Amartey Joins Leicester City For Preseason

Ghanaian international Daniel Amartey has rejoined his Leicester City teammates as they commence preparations for the upcoming 2017/18 football season.

Leicester, who were dethroned as Premier League title win last season, ended the league at the 12 position with 44 points, an action Amartey played a key role.

He did not see any rest after the season ended last season as he was soon invited by the new head coach of the Black Stars James Kwesi Appiah to feature in the Stars AFCON 2019 qualifier against Ethiopia, a game the Stars won 5-0 at the Baba Yara stadium in Kumasi.

Just like some of his colleagues, Amartey then opted out of the Stars double header international friendly game against Mexico and the United States of America just to rest some tired limbs before the preseason proper starts for Leicester City.

A powerful presence both in midfield and defence, Daniel made his senior debut for Ghana against Senegal a year ago and has featured a number of times for the Black Stars.

Amartey made five appearances for City during the 2015/16 campaign after making his debut in the 1-0 victory over Norwich City in February 2016.

He featured much more heavily the following term, playing 35 times in all competitions for City, while also representing Ghana at the Africa Cup of Nations.
