Amartey’s Goal Rescues Leicester City From Defeat In Europa League

on

Ghanaian International Daniel Amartey rescued Leicester City from the jaws of defeat with a goal in their UEFA Europa League match against Spartak Moscow this evening.

Amartey who has been a constant feature for coach Brendan Rodgers side all season, was again named in the starting XI.

City’s first opportunity came after just two minutes as Youri Tielemans located Daniel Amartey, charging forwards on the angle of the penalty area. The Ghana international elected to shoot, too, arrowing a low drive wide of the far post.

After a goalless first half, the home side were stunned when Nigerian international Victor Moses grabbed the opener in the 51st minute.

Just seven minutes after going behind, Leicester were on level terms. It came about as Bertrand’s corner was flicked on by Pérez into the path of Amartey, who glanced his header into the bottom corner to make it 1-1.

That was his third goal for the Club since joining from Copenhagen in 2016.

1-1 was how the game ended though Leicester could have won it had Jamie Vardy scored his sides penalty awarded them in the 75th minute.
